About Death Metal

Death metal is the sound of a band trying to out-heavy itself on every riff. Down-tuned guitars chug and churn, the drummer lives on double kick and blast beats, and the vocals come from somewhere below the ribcage. The genre grew out of thrash in the mid-80s, when bands like Death, Morbid Angel and Obituary pushed speed and brutality past anything the Bay Area had tried, and it has been splintering into sub-scenes ever since. There's old-school Floridian filth, Swedish buzzsaw tone, brutal slam and technical death metal built like a math problem.

The death metal on AI Metal Radio covers all of it. Some tracks go for the cavernous, reverb-soaked OSDM atmosphere. Others are tight, surgical and relentless. What they share is the stuff that makes the genre work: riffs with real weight, songs that shift tempo instead of staying on one blast, and vocals that sit in the mix like another instrument rather than floating on top of it.

If you're new to the death metal here, start with Tronicon Records, ARCAIDE Arrangements and Juliusleffe, the most-played artists in the genre right now. Hit Play All to run the latest uploads back to back, or tune into the radio to hear death metal mixed with the rest of the underground.

Every track is reviewed before it goes live, so what you hear has been picked for quality, not just dumped into a feed. New death metal lands every week.
