About Thrash Metal

Thrash is metal at full sprint. Born in the early 80s, when bands took the NWOBHM's twin-guitar attack and fed it punk's speed and attitude, it gave the world Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax, and set the tempo every extreme genre since has tried to beat. The ingredients haven't changed: palm-muted riffs fired off like machine-gun rounds, drummers pushing everything forward, shout-along choruses and solos that break loose without warning.

The thrash on AI Metal Radio ranges from old-school Bay Area crunch to modern, tightly produced riff assaults, with plenty of crossover and groove along the way. Lyrically it keeps the genre's tradition of pointing at the world and getting angry about it: politics, war, paranoia and power.

Derek Bowes, ARCAIDE Arrangements and Juliusleffe are the most-played thrash artists here right now, so start there. Put the genre on shuffle for a fast, loud session, or tune into the radio to hear thrash mixed across the whole metal spectrum.

Every upload is reviewed before it's published, and new thrash lands every week.
