The Loneliness of the Long-Haired Tuxedo
By Iron Mittens · Metal · From the album Greatest Hiss.. The Best Of Iron Mittens
The parody of "The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner." It turned out to be a song about about a nightly patrol of a black and white tuxedo cat...
Dedicated to all long-haired tuxedos who patrol sleeping households!
"The Loneliness Of The Long-Haired Tuxedo"
A majestic long-haired tuxedo cat patrols the house every night.
Alone.
Misunderstood.
Covered in enough fur to knit several sweaters.
He walks.
He sheds.
He judges.
[Verse I]
I pace the halls at half past three
No human soul is watching me
The moonlight paints the kitchen floor
I've walked these paths a thousand times before
My tuxedo coat trails in the night
Black and white beneath the light
The kingdom sleeps but I remain
Patrolling through the windowpane
[Pre-Chorus]
The house is still... The world is slow...
There's something moving...Only I know...
[Chorus]
Prowl, on and on
Prowl, on and on
The loneliness! of the long-haired tuxedo!
Prowl, on and on
Prowl, on and on
The loneliness! of the guardian of the hall!
[Verse II]
I hear a sound behind the wall
A tiny scratch, a distant call
I leap upon the sofa's crest
To keep the household safe and blessed
The humans sleep without a care
Unaware that I am there
Defending them from every threat
Including moths they haven't met
[Pre-Chorus]
The house is still... The world is slow...
There's something moving...Only I know...
[Chorus]
Prowl, on and on
Prowl, on and on
The loneliness! of the long-haired tuxedo!
Prowl, on and on
Prowl, on and on
The loneliness! of the guardian of the hall!
[Atmospheric Bridge]
Do they know...
Do they see...
The burden that is placed on me?
The endless watch...
The nightly roam...
The lonely duty of protecting home...
My endless journey takes me through:
The Living Room Kingdom
The Hallway of Shadows
The Sacred Food Bowl
And The Chamber of the Red Dot
[Final Chorus]
[Chorus]
Prowl, on and on
Prowl, on and on
The loneliness! Of the long-haired tuxedo!
Prowl, on and on
Prowl, on and on
The loneliness! Of the watcher in the night!
Whoooh-oh! Oooooh!
Prowl, on and on!
Prowl, on and on!
The Loneliness Of The Long-haired Tuxedooo!
