04 - Where Am I

By Dread Nocturna · Metalcore

Lost. Alone. Transformed.

Hours after being pulled through the Veil, Nova regains consciousness in a place that shouldn't exist.

The Sorrow Depths—a dimension where emotion becomes landscape, where fear shapes terrain, and where the laws of physics bend to the weight of human feeling.

She stands in a fractured reflection of Hollowtown. The Iron Warrens stretch before her, but the factories are made of crystallized memories instead of steel. Their apartment exists, but when she reaches for the door, her hand passes through like smoke. The sky is filled with impossible geometry—angles that hurt to perceive, colors that don't have names.

And she realizes: she can see Calen.

Through the silver haze of the Veil, she watches him search the wreckage. She hears him calling her name. But when she screams back, her voice becomes wind. When she reaches for him, her fingers are translucent, glowing faintly with Veil-light.

She's trapped. Watching but unseen. Close but unreachable.

Worse still—something is watching her. A vast presence circling overhead. Eyes like dying stars. The Luminarch—a cosmic entity studying her with cold curiosity, fascinated by the way human emotion bleeds into the realm around her.

"Where Am I?" captures Nova's first hours in the Sorrow Depths—her disorientation, her discovery of the realm's rules, her horror at her own transformation, and her dawning awareness that love might be the only thing keeping her from dissolving completely.

She doesn't know how long she can stay herself before the Veil erases who she was. But she knows one thing: Calen is searching. And she will wait.
