Monster You Made

By The Ronin Project · Metal · From the album Inside the Embers

I kept my hands in my pockets, quiet

Let the shots all roll my way

You learned my silence like a science

Found every nerve I wouldn't save

I wore the blame like broken armor, lazy

Let the weight become my skin

You kept on turning up the pressure, hazy

Now hear the change you hammered in

You kept your foot on the fault line

Daring the earth to move

You kept calling that control

I was just learning what I'd lose

You wanted me waiting, you wanted me weak

You wanted my head always down at your feet

This isn't the change that you wanted to keep

It's the monster you made, and the one that you need

You wanted me waiting, you wanted me weak

You wanted my head always down at your feet

This isn't the change that you wanted to keep

It's the monster you made, and the one that you need

I leaned my weight into the backdraft, floating

Caught my breath inside the choke

You call it rage, I call it backbone, showing

You only deflect when it shows

Now I don't rise just to save me, myself

I rise for the ones you try to bend

If I'm the monster that stops the cycle

Then I'll wear that til the end

You kept your foot on the fault line

Daring the earth to move

You kept calling that control

I was just learning what I'd lose

You wanted me waiting, you wanted me weak

You wanted my head always down at your feet

This isn't the change that you wanted to keep

It's the monster you made, and the one that you need

You wanted me waiting, you wanted me weak

You wanted my head always down at your feet

This isn't the change that you wanted to keep

It's the monster you made, and the one that you need

You pushed and pushed till the frame gave way

Now the door don't fit the same

I didn't change just to trade my cage

I changed to choose my name

You wanted me waiting, you wanted me weak

You wanted my head always down at your feet

This isn't the change that you wanted to keep

It's the monster you made, and the one that you need

You wanted me waiting, you wanted me weak

You wanted my head always down at your feet

This isn't the change that you wanted to keep

It's the monster you made, and the one that you need

And the one that you need
