The tide has teeth, it drags me low

The chains I bear still dig their claim

The monsters circle, feeding slow

I breathe the dark, it knows my name

The storm takes hold, my grip is thin

I brace the mast though wood may crack

The howl of wind is pulling in

A thousand hands to drag me back

I've fought alone for far too long

The truth I feared has made me strong

Through fire's heat and water's depth

I've learned the cost of every breath

The harder storms will strip my pride

Until there's nothing left to hide

But when my voice has strength to tell

I'll raise it high, I'll break this shell

Fire the flares, light up the sky

Let them know I'm still alive

Send the signal through the rain

I can't outrun this sea of pain

Fire the flares, the night won't last

Guide me home through shadows cast

If I'm to fall, I'll fall in sight

Of hands that pull me back to light

The deck is slick, my footing gone

The waves come in, relentless, cruel

The weight I've carried far too long

Has made me strong, but not a fool

I see the shore through lightning's glare

I feel the reach of outstretched hands

No shame in breathing borrowed air

When drowning takes the strongest stands

The lines I've cut, the ties I've burned

A flare can be a beating heart
