Nursery Graves

By Derek Bowes · Groove Metal

I grew up on nursery rhymes like everyone else. Innocent songs, harmless nursery tales. But the older I got, the more I realized what they actually were—encoded warnings, whispered instructions wrapped in sweetness. Rock-a-bye baby? That's a cradle falling and a child dying. Ring around the rosie? Plague imagery disguised as a game. Every rhyme was a funeral march, and we were dancing to it the whole time.

This song tears into that. It's a realization that these supposedly innocent songs were teaching us how to accept death, decay, and darkness from the moment we could understand language. The nursery rhymes aren't cute—they're graves we were buried in before we even knew we were dead.
