"The Weapon" tells the story of Kai.
Protected from birth. Her parents murdered. She never knew the truth until the day they came for her.
This is the second origin story in The Veilspire mythos: a gothic metal track about survival, inheritance, violence, and the moment protection becomes power.
The Veilspire novels take place in a ruined gothic world rebuilt after a forgotten cataclysm. Kings, merchants, and nobles rule from soot-blackened palaces while the poor are forced into workhouses, mills, debt contracts, and pleasure estates. Women without protection are treated as possessions, and law exists mainly to protect those rich enough to buy it.
In this world of gaslight, iron, velvet, blades, and hunger, five women broken by different parts of the same system find each other and become something the ruling houses cannot own.
