Of Life and Fear

By Necroplasm · Death Metal · From the album Aporia of Life, Fear, and Mind.

We often build walls and wait in anxious anticipation for fears—like a break-in, betrayal, or diagnosis—that never actually manifest.

Our minds cannot differentiate between a real and an imagined danger, leading us to become trapped and obsessed.

As the Stoic Seneca noted, we often suffer more in the imagination than in reality.

By spending so much time worried about imagined dangers, we forget to leave our homes and enjoy the lives we have.

To truly live, we sometimes have to step out of the burrow.
