The song is about a man who is becoming aware of a second layer of reality that exists alongside the normal world, one that other people cannot perceive. The woman in the green coat is a real presence within that space, moving through time and dimensions, and she repeatedly pulls him closer as he writes and creates. As this connection deepens, his sense of identity begins to blur, and the boundary between his world and hers starts to collapse. He is not imagining these experiences, he is transitioning into a state where he exists between realities, fully aware of both but no longer grounded in either.
