11. Abzu
By Unlife · Alternative Metal · From the album No Life Matters
Beneath the salt where nothing moves
I heard your name in fading light
Abzu you were the first deep
Before the sky could learn to fight
Tiamat's breath was storm and scale
You were the still that held it all
I waded down where rivers sleep
And felt the old dark take its hold
And the dark
And the dark held me close
And the dark
And the dark was my home
Abzu - Father of the deep
Abzu - Wake me from this sleep
Abzu - Father of the deep
Abzu - Wake me from death's sleep
And I wait
For the tide to call
And I wait
For the drowning fall
Cool the stone that cradles my cheek
Cool the clay that forgives no name
Let the new gods shout their brittle light
I will not rise
I will not rise
Let the reed lie down where the first root fails
Let the wet sand seal my brittle eyes
Your bones became the mud I tread
Your veins the springs beneath the stone
I drank the sediment of years
And every drop was cold and known
The priests have all forgot your name
But I still trace it in the silt
My hands are stained with ancient rain
My lungs are full of what you built
And the dark
And the dark calls my name
And the dark
And the dark knows my frame
Abzu - Father of the deep
Abzu - Wake me from this sleep
Abzu - Father of the deep
Abzu - Wake me from death's sleep
And I sink
Into the endless pool
And I sink
Where the light is cruel
The serpent coils beneath the stone
The abyss hums a constant tune
I carved my name in the silt
And watched it vanish all too soon
The stars above are colder now
The waves remember what they were
I kept the old tongue on my lips
Whispering to the subterranean blur
I am the current underneath your temple
I am the murmur underneath your hymn
I will not surface I will not tremble
I will be patient as you always have been
Abzu - Father of the deep
Abzu - Wake me from this sleep
Abzu - Father of the deep
Abzu - Wake me from death's sleep
