The Titan Awakes

By ORGANize · Progressive Metal · From the album History in Frame

Journey back to May 18, 1980, for a crushing, dramatic retelling of the deadliest volcanic event in U.S. history. Anchored by a heavy, distorted Hammond organ and powered by chaotic, 1970s-style symphonic progressive rock, this track mirrors the sheer raw power of nature unleashed.

The narrative moves frantically from the initial magnitude 5.1 tremor and historic northern slope collapse to the catastrophic lateral blast that leveled 230 square miles of timber in seconds. Blending tense spoken-word delivery with explosive organ riffs, intricate time signatures, and a haunting tribute to USGS volcanologist David A. Johnston, the track captures both the terrifying fury of the earth and the somber silence left in its wake.
