Skin in the Game
By AlphaSigma · Black Metal · From the album Skin in the Game
"Skin In The Game" is a vicious philosophical critique of modern risk and consequence, anchored in a 4,000-year-old Babylonian law. The track draws its narrative from the ancient decree that if a builder constructed a house that collapsed and killed its inhabitants, the builder would also be put to death. Using Nassim Nicholas Taleb's concept of "skin in the game," the song violently condemns modern systems where bankers, pundits, and consultants dictate high-stakes decisions and reap the benefits, but safely vanish before the catastrophic consequences of their advice are realized. The lyrics serve as a hostile warning: trust is an illusion unless the architect is forced to suffer the consequences of a collapsing roof.
