Touch You

By Absent Eden · Metalcore

We wanted to write honestly about feeling unwanted by someone you still love, and how that can change the way you see yourself. You start apologizing for wanting affection. You stop asking for it. Eventually, you pull away before they have the chance.

The line we kept coming back to was:

“I want to leave.

I want you to reach for me first.”

Both are true throughout the song. He understands that affection has to be freely given, but he’s struggling to accept what the relationship has become. Even when he finally says how much it hurts, he still goes back to bed.

We left it there because understanding why you’re unhappy doesn’t mean you’re ready to leave.
